Hi all when I am driveing my morris and shifting in to 2nd gear it grinds but if I am going 10 mph or less it doesnet grind at all. But the rest of the gears shift into smoothly. I am guessing I needs to be rebuilt but I would like a second opinion first.
Thanks

Learn to time your gear changes or double declutch. When it starts jumping out of 2nd it's time to change the box.

As above - this is normal if you don't double-de-clutch. Buy why down shift to second? If slowing to a stop, no need - if to go round a slow corner - don't go down until the speed is off the car. And - start looking for a good secondhand replacement gearbox........

Re: 1971 Morris Minor Traveler transmission
Not really normal for a 1971 car with the later baulk-ring syncromesh, but nothing to worry about either. As above, just learn to double-declutch. The 'box may well go on for years if it's just the syncromesh that's worn.
Re: 1971 Morris Minor Traveler transmission
It is I'm afraid entirely normal after a few years use. Learn to live with it - it soon becomes entirely natural to double-de-clutch. Every time it grinds - is another step towards the 'jumping out of gear' which soon forces you to rebuild the gearbox.......and don't let anyone tell you it just needs a new syncro ring........ If only that was the case....
