Upgraded heater ,bottom hose doesn't fit

Post by chappy190 »

Hi .I have just bought A minor ,which has an upgraded heater .I am in the process of fixing all the little gremlins on the car , I have tried changing the hoses as they have seen better days .The bottom hose has A heater take off but its a much narrower diameter than the hose on the car ,I can only assume this is due to the heater being larger .I have looked on several spares sites but can't find the hose to fit .Does anybody have any ideas ,Thanks Ken

Some photos here would help greatly to give us a better understanding of the problem.

If it's the normal uprated heater from a Mini, then the hose to the heater would be 5/8 but the take off on the bottom radiator hose is only 1/2. Normally there would be a metal pipe from the radiator hose up over the engine. You would then need a short length of 1/2 rubber to join to an adapter to step up to 5/8 to go to the heater.

As above - simple plumbing adapter required. What was done with the old hose? Had the pipe just been 'forced' in??
