Mini and Minor experts
I'm not sure whether this falls into the category of silly questions ... but ...
Even though many posts here have clarified that it is generally impractical to fit a Mini A-series to a Minor, I am wondering about the automatic variant of the Mini A-series.
I recently saw a Mini automatic 1098 engine for sale. Externally, it appeared to similar to the in-line versions, but it had a splined drive from the crankshaft rather than a flange for the flywheel.
So, I was wondering whether this variant of the Mini engine can be adapted to the Minor by a simple swap of the crankshaft to the flanged type used for the later Minors, Sprites, etc.
Cheers

Re: Mini 1098 automatic engine for a Minor?
The rear main bearing cap is different on the Mini so unless you are prepared to change the rear bearing cap (which is available and which will require line boring) the block is unsuitable. You would also need the top half of the crankshaft oil throw housing. The block could be used but It will come at some cost.

The automatic block is completely different - there is NO HOPE of using it -even less than using a normal Mini block...... Of course - you can fit the complete Mini auto engine+box - across the car with front wheel drive..... On like that for sale on here recently.....I lost track of what happened to it.....
