"I can't let you do that, Dave"
I arrived at work this morning and turned off the car and noticed the ignition light shining at me in a very HAL-esque manner. I popped the bonnet and opened the voltage regulator and had to physically flick the cut-out back to the open position which put the light out. I then re-started the car and had to rev the engine significantly more than usual to get the cut-out to operate. I will clean the contacts etc when I get the chance but does anyone else have any suggestions to sort this out?

Get a new regulator??
Cleaning and resetting as per Manual should fix it. But worth watching, because the reverse current is not insignificant and will quickly drain the battery/overheat the dynamo and possibly damage the wiring......

Great clip!
I don't think a dynamo that isn't charging is quite as serious though

Never seen it - sorry.... All seems a bit unbelievable to me from that clip.... I have watched The Railway Children a couple of times !

It's science fiction, very good film but may well not be to your taste, it's in colour and everything

When I used to read books (50 years ago...) I did quite enjoy science fiction...so maybe I will try to watch it! Colour ---ehhhh!!!

Re: "I can't let you do that, Dave"
That's roughly when it was released! Well 1968 to be precise. So surprised it was a mystery. It stands the test of time. I suppose some haven't seen it in the same way as not everyone has read certain milestones in literature.
