Help identify behind dash wires from starter
Hi, need some help with wires. In the first picture a purple wire goes from the side end of the starter pull. It goes into the engine and then has been cut, should this be going somewhere?

A right mess in there! The lilac wire - is it actually connected to anything?? Remove it..... The 'can' is a flasher unit. The little panel with switch and orange light is possibly for a heated rear screen of some kind/or fog warning light/or reversing light?? ? I suggest eradication.....it's horrible.....

hiya tell me about it, so much mess!!! don't worry i plan to remove it all once I get the wires working...
Yes the bottom left lilac colour wire on the connector goes into the engine bay but is not connected to anything, so if it is not needed I will pull it out and bin it.
The other one's I might just leave for now until one point where i can manually follow where they go.

What year is the car? Did it originally have trafficators? Have the indicators been added?
The correct colours for the flasher unit should be
Green - Feed from fuse box to Term B
Green/Brown, Term L to indicator switch
Light Green, Term P to indicator warning light

It's a 1957 minor 1000 4 door.
The traficators have never been there and the round orange and white indicators at the front look original..... Just looks like someone has changed wires maybe......

If it is a 1957 then it would have had trafficators unless it was an export to certain countries and that style front indicators were not fitted until about 1964

Hmmm.... It has no traficators for sure because the sides are filled in like original body shape. I think maybe someone had the indicators added which could explain the wiring mess...... Wires the wrong colour etc. It has number plate starting JFO which Iooked up showed it was registered wales FO = Radnorshire

The trafficators would have been at the top of the B post between the front and back door window frames

Yes, here's a picture showing them not there..... I think the original registration is not on the car then... it is has most likely been changed as I think someone could have sold the original as the one on it is not transferrable.[frame]

What is the chassis number? That will date the car
