THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY
Today marks the 50 years since the great train robbery. If you get to see a Sun newspaper today there is a picture of the front end of a Morris Minor at the scene, was there ever a Morris Minor used in the robbery which I can't imagine there would have been not exactly a great getaway motor
, or maybe this is a photo taken at the scene at a later date, anyway our beloved little friend pop's up everywhere.

I was looking at some photos of the farm where the robbers were and there was a Morris Minor van with the police Land Rovers.

Re: THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY
Thought they used two Land Rovers (Series 1 and 2) and a lorry to give the impression of an army convoy when seen out 'on manouvres' late at night. The lorry survives - it was on display at the NEC last year and the Series one LR was featured in a LR mag a few years back...
The Minor could have been a police vehicle possibly?

I was in the old buckinhamshire police force, now thames valley, shortly after the GTR. some stations in that day had either a traveller,or minor as a general run around vehicle.the cars ,pre panda were mostly austin cambridge. So its possible that it was a police vehicle.Very quickly they went onto pandas wait for it.........................hillman imps, ford anglias, and minis.happy days eh.
