Another brake adjusting topic.

I went to adjust the brakes, as they have been sadly neglected lately, but on taking off the front road wheel found the Philips screw-head adjuster not only knackered but also well and truly seized. I had to give up. How do I proceed - remove the drum and free off/replace parts as necessary?

Sounds like the best/only plan.
A bit of copper slip on the replaced moving parts should prevent it happening again any time soon.

'Phillips screw head adjuster' -ehhh?? All I have ever seen are slot head.......

You could try coaxing the screw out with a centre punch and hammer, but give it a dose of plus gas, if that don't work then it may have to be drilled out.

must be talking about the drum retaining screw.drill it out and let the nuts hold the drum on not really needed once the wheel is on.
