Headlights

Post by Cyril »

Left side headlight went out last week and when I enquired about replacing it I was disheartened to hear that the sealed bulb type headlight was no longer available.
But thanks to the David Manners Group I was able to replace the headlights completely with removable bulbs.
Here is Cyril with his new glasses.

Hi,
There are plenty of Halogen conversions for sale out there, eBay lists loads, however they are all flat glass, as opposed to the domed original shape, which I have to say I miss.
I think these conversions originate from the (original) MIni, which uses the same size headlights as the Minor but which lasted longer and therefore got the halogen upgrade, as a matter of course.
Are there any domed halogen conversions out there now?
Best wishes,
Mike.

You can still get Lucas domed lights to take H4 halogen bulbs. They have a good pattern on the glass that looks much better than some of the modern conversions and mine certainly throw a very good beam pattern :D

Yes these are domed and compared to the originals they look identical all except logos.
The beam is much whiter but then again I am not sure when the previous owner last changed the lights.
I bought them from

Both? At the same time? Sure it's not a wire off......or high volts causing the filaments to burn out??
