REAR SEAT BITUMEN CARD BACKING

Post by Leyland »

Good evening everyone,
I am refurbishing the seats of my 1962 two door saloon. They are the duotone type.
On the upright part of the rear seat is a bitumen type of card covering as seen in the boot.
Mine is ripped and some missing.
Is it possible to buy this type of material from anywhere. I am trying to restore to original
spec. However, if such covering is not available, what have others used who have restored
to concourse standard please. Any advise would be appreciated.. Thanks

sorry taupe that is not the same, millboard is a thick card used for making up interior trim panels and bitumen card is a great deal thinner (i would have described it as paper not card).. and sorry no idea where you could get it from.

Well I stand corrected but Woolies millboard is only 2.3mm thick.... I guess you could use roofing felt or builders paper if you wanted it thinner??

Have you considered using some 3mm marine ply and painting it black?
