USHM 3 engine spares
I own a 1937 Morris 8 firtted with a USHM 3 engine. A long story but I sold the car to my brother for £7 in about 1964 and later, when I had an early side valve Minor I bought another Minor for it's radiator as it was cheaper than buying a new radiator! The engine was in good condition so I gave it to my brother who fitted it into the Morris 8. I've now inherited the 8 and it needs one new piston, a set of rings rings etc and I'm wondering if the engines are identical apart from the fitting of an oil filter, blanks for a water pump etc. Does anyone out there know please? It's just that spares may be obtainable from the Morris Register somewhat more cheaply than elsewhere.

Re: USHM 3 engine spares
Try MMOC Club Spares. You will probably need to buy a set of pistons and rings, after you have checked the bore sizes. You may have to buy whatever piston sizes are available and rebore the engine accordingly or sleeve it back to standard. Note some pistons are 3 ring and some are 4 ring.
The engines use the same mechanicals, the early USHM2 did not have an oil filter, the later ones did. The USHM3 also had a thermostat housing, water jacket and water pump or blanking plate. See http://seriesmm.mmoc.org.uk for further info.
