I would suggest that you need at least a No 1 & 4 cylinder TDC mark on the pulley to give you a datum point.
Just needs dab of white paint on the pulley and timing cover (aligned with each other) when TDC is determined.
I agree the timing should be adjusted as recommended in the above posts as no two engines are the same even if they are built to the same specification/components and as Bmc has quite rightly pointed on several occasions the specification of todays petrol is different from the specification of the petrol used when the Minor was new so the original settings are mostly irrelevant but can be used as a start point.[frame]
