Re: MORRIS MINOR MAGAZINE: SUSPENSION OF PUBLICATION
Russ, I am sure that you are as confused as we are after all the work you put in finding a new home for Minor Monthly only for it to fold after 3? issues. The difference being that it was your job down the pan. I hope that you soon find a new publisher for your journalistic skills.
If it is not for general public consumption I would appreciate a PM as to why the magazine was dumped

Re: MORRIS MINOR MAGAZINE: SUSPENSION OF PUBLICATION
MMM is owned by Blaze not me nor am I or was I employed by Blaze. Sadly its up to them what they do with it. Just for info Mike 7 issues were produced by Blaze that's 14 months not 3 issues.
My e mails to Blaze have not been responded to and basically MMM has not made £53k profit!!! And that's what they said or that's all I have been told.
I know no other reason they publish 21 magazines and that's what a magazine needs to make otherwise they will not keep it. Again That is all I have been told
Any other replies will need to come from Blaze as Ihave no other info

Re: MORRIS MINOR MAGAZINE: SUSPENSION OF PUBLICATION
For info, I made two very serious enquiries to Blaze about buying the title and running it (I would have involved Rus!) but Blaze completely ignored my correspondence.

Re: MORRIS MINOR MAGAZINE: SUSPENSION OF PUBLICATION
For anyone interested, I previously advised Blaze that I required a full refund. They have ignored all my correspondence, so an email sent today reads:
Miss Broughton, I have not received the money owed to me by Blaze. Accordingly I am commencing proceedings in the Small Claims Court to secure recovery of that money. You should be aware that Blaze will now become responsible for all additional costs associated with that action. Further, judgements awarded against Blaze may affect the company’s credit rating.
I'll let you know how things progress. Most disappointing that it has to come to this.

Re: MORRIS MINOR MAGAZINE: SUSPENSION OF PUBLICATION
I don't think that will do anything they don't seem to take any notice or respond and they know a small claims court will not pursue for such a small amount of money

Re: MORRIS MINOR MAGAZINE: SUSPENSION OF PUBLICATION
the issue with small claims court is not the amount but the fact that blaze can ask that the case be held locally to them, at which point the cost of petrol will probably out weight what you are likely to get back.
the court will request a fee currently £25 or £35 payable by you in advance but can be added to the claim against blaze..
if the court finds against them and they refuse to pay you move to enforcement, which again costs money i.e. you pay up front but this is added to what the loser has to pay..
ask me how I know.. i took a morris minor centre to the small claims court and won but had to enforce the judgement and enforce the judgement to pay the enforcement fee but I got all 2.75K of my money back

Well done sticking with it and getting your money!!

Re: MORRIS MINOR MAGAZINE: SUSPENSION OF PUBLICATION
Isn't there something in law where if someone ignores a judgement it's contempt and attracts further punishment?
CharlieMorrisMinor, out of interest, since you can't say it publicly, could you PM me the name of the Morris place whom you took to court and won against?

Suggests that penalties have been reduced quite recently.
Contempt for failing to answer questions at an examination hearing
Where a person is found in contempt of court for refusing to answer questions or provide records at an examination hearing, the maximum penalty has been reduced from 40 days to 5 days in jail, effective January 1, 2011.
Contempt Hearings for willful failure to attend an examination
Previously, a contempt hearing for willful failure to attend an examination in Small Claims Court was required to be heard before a judge of the Superior Court of Justice. As of January 1, 2011, these hearings may also be heard by a deputy judge or provincial civil judge.
Also, as of January 1, 2011, where the court finds a person in contempt of court for willful failure to attend an examination, the maximum penalty has been reduced from 40 days to 5 days in jail.
For more information about contempt proceedings, see the After Judgment – Guide to Getting Results available at court offices and online at: www.ontario.ca/attorneygeneral. A new version of this guide, including this change, will be available after January 1, 2011.

Re: MORRIS MINOR MAGAZINE: SUSPENSION OF PUBLICATION
Well done on the refund. Worth persevering for just on principle.
They would never tell me the number of subscribers anyway, when I asked. Just avoided the question. It was why I never advertised with them. Same applied pre Blaze too....
Not sure that they actually have anything to sell now. Whilst it was a going concern with subscribers maybe, but now it has effectively closed down there's not much a buyer would get. Goodwill? A list of ex subscribers who have been messed about? Artwork? Maybe... Be far more logical to start afresh with a slightly different title if anyone wanted to and not have to pay Blaze anything, unless I'm missing something....RussLCV wrote:Stag3567
