5 ring pistons, who does new rings, what make pistons?

Post by Pilkie »

Hi all.
Apparently in my 1964,1098 travellers engine ive got, Split skirt, 5 ring, +030 shallow dish pistons, the 5th lower oil ring supposedly reduces piston slap.
What make are the pistons likely to be?
Where can I get a set of new +030 rings from?
Cheers.[frame]Image[/frame]

Cheers.
The 3 top rings on all are fine, just the 2 lower oil rings gummed up on some of them.
Compression was perfect.
Would it be ok,in your opinions, once the gummy residue has all been cleaned off ,and they are back to their normal springyness to reuse them?
I have a feeling that the majority of the excess oil smokeyness is from knackered valve oil seals anyway,as when I dropped the valves, there was dripping oil from the inner taper edge of the valves.
And at least 2 valve guides show excess wear!
Will be checking it out more today, and will see what the spare head I got with the car is like!

I just rebuilt an engine using 5 ring pistons. I got my rings from an MG supplier here http://www.sussexclassiccar.co.uk they were about 40 odd quid delivered. The engine is running now and is GREAT.

Cords were THE rings for worn engines. The top ring is stepped so it can 'clear' the ridge at the top of the worn bore. These are NOS only.
