modern engine? in moggy?

Post by margriff »

Recently read about an mx5 engine put into a moggy...which is ironic for me as I sold my 92' mx5 to buy my moggy.
Also been told about Montego engine going in a moggy.

Any other thoughts? :P

Things get quite complex these days as computers are involved.
What are you looking for, power or economy?

I doubt it...

The escort the engine was in did 32mpg and its heavier! Besides which... I have enough other cars to choose from and its never going to be a daily drive car. Its also fuel injected rather than a carb ;)

Even if it does only do 20mpg, I won't be too concerned. I have a transit that only does 13mpg!

But the A series sounds wonderful and original, is of the period and is as hard as hobs from hell.
There is also something delightfully inspiring for budding young Morris drivers, to find that power torque and the roar of a v8/v6 or scooby engine is not all its cooked up to be, particularly when they find they also need to fit disc brakes, a servo, uprated suspension, wheels, tyres gearbox, diff, clutch blah blah bloomin blah.
Then theres the insurance........dont get me started on insurance
I speak as someone who shovelled a V8 in a bitzas by the way, and I have yet to meet a non disappointed bystander when they find the car aint original.
So, now ive found the can o worms and successfully removed the lid, I shall put this soapbox back under the desk.
