Can anyone give me a ball park figure of how much it will cost me to get a grease monkey to convert my front drum brakes to discs?

£1000?
Good mechanics, which is what you will need if you won't get your hands dirty, don't care for that term.
Fitter is pejorative too.

Non taken, there are places that will do a competent job, but nobody will take as much care as you will on your brakes.

Why do you want discs - are you planning on racing or rallying the car? Standard later car 8" front drums are perfectly satisfactory (when in good order) for any sane standard Minor motoring.....

£1000 must include the cost of the kit and still seems high to me. JLH does kits and conversions, you should contact them. They might even put the price on their website.MarkyB wrote:£1000?

Yes that will include the cost of the kit.
Most minor suppliers offer a disc brake kit.
As BMC says the standard 8" drums are fine - provided you havent upgraded anything else, and you drive sedately. If you are anything like me you need discs! I have upgraded the brakes on my focus, because they constantly faded out on the mountain passes in Wales!
