Re: WHEELER DEALERS
they tend to have a gap between transmission and being available on bbc i player and sky on demand etc ,but not always
why do they make life s difficult?
the prog is more like a soap than a restoration program, nice result tho

Re: WHEELER DEALERS
I finally got to see the programme on youtube (thanks Mick for the link!) and although generally I scorn the Wheeler programmes - I actually think the Traveller programme is pretty good! China does admit to 'dark moments' and hints there have been plenty of problems. No mention of any work on the brakes or suspension (and it was bouncing about like a tennis ball in the early shots..) and I suspect there is stacks of filler in the car....they openly did that with a Porsche 911 a while back... but all in all - quite a good 'advertisement' for Morris Travellers. Yes - they are not realistic with the restoration cost - but as others have pointed out - it is a TV programme - not a 'how to' and it may well encourage folks to have a go themselves. So I'm rather surprising myself here by saying " Well done Brewer and China ! " But I do wonder how long it will be before the filler starts to fall out.......

I think you ought to start preparing some seasoning and a little side salad for that hat of yours.
OK it is not a Morris Minor.
Rover P5 MK11 1966. Mileage 74.000.
Advertised as not running very well and no reverse gear, spotted on Ebay last Friday afternoon..
Phoned the owner straight away and got a story where the car had to go to a good home as space needed and they could not afford the repairs which a mechanic quoted as a few thousand pounds.
I purchased the car over the phone and collected it the next morning at 8.00am,with cash in hand and a trailer.
I put the car in my workshop Saturday afternoon and got on with fixing it.
A new set of spark plugs and a few ignition leads had the straight six engine purring.
Adjusting the brake bands in the auto box had reverse gear working.
Cost of car.....£650.00
I just had to buy it at that price.
Right place ,right time, act very fast (do not dither) and most important..cash in hand.
Morris Mike

Re: WHEELER DEALERS
Amazingly the owner had informed the Rover owners club last year of his intended sale of this car,but nobody bothered to contact him.Although two guys from the club promised a visit.(glad they did not turn up)!!!
When he rang the club valuation officer just before I purchased it they told him to start his advertising at £500.00 and go from there.
A bit like my Austin A30 1955 I purchased three years ago,the family who inherited the car contacted the Austin club and were told to sell it for £500.00.
When I arrived to view it this is what I found...
It ended up in my garage.

Re: WHEELER DEALERS
It is an entertainment programme and you can only show so much in an hour...then again they do waste time with 'recap' after the ads. The costs are interesting too. They have a good size team of mech's too, I'm sure. I wish I had half the kit Edd has in that unit.
