New Wiring Loom Fault

Post by bushhouse »

Hi All, just started fitting our new Bull Motif Loom to our '56 4 door and encountered a problem. There appears to be NO continuity between the Brown and Blue A1 connection with the two free ends at the dashboard end of the loom. There is continuity however between the thicker, starter switch wire (A1 connection also) and the the dashboard end of the loom.
So my question is has anyone else had any new loom issues from Bull Motif ? Is the best way to fix this problem to run a new brown/blue wire from A1 alongside the new loom (cable ties) to the lighting switch OR try and unwrap the new loom from the incorrect end and hope to find where the feed from the engine bay should have been soldered to the brown and blue loop that exists at the dash end. Any help appreciated. I shall call Bull Motif in the morning and see what they can offer ?

Thanks all.

There will never be continuity between different coloured wires - why should there be? Have you installed the dynamo regulator yet?? Do that first...... there is never any 'soldering' inside a loom - it is just a web of wires - all connections are at the ends of the wires.....

On my diagram for early cars there are 2 brown/blue wires, both from A1, one goes to the ignition switch and the other to the light switch. Are you saying you have 2 wires at A1 and 3 wires at the dash?

The point is - the wires need to be joined at the regulator for them to be 'live' at the light switch.......
