siezed engine

i've got the chance to buy a 1098 engine which has been stood
for 10 years....
the guy said it was only stuck in 1 cylinder.( he checked today)
i have yet to view it
what is the best way to try and free it?
the old boy said it was a good runner when stored...

Well worth £10 then....... The best way is to soak it in diesel fuel and after 24 hours - very gently try to ease it back and forth with hand pressure only to see if it will come free. Lots of lub oil in the other bores too of course. Expect to at least fit new rings - bearing shells - and probably a new oil pump.

I would say that the longer the oil is left to penetrate the better.... do NOT try to force it and oil liberally. I would expect some of the rings to have broken up in this state.

Ha ha, one step ahead again. You beat me to the brass heater take off recently as well. You are turning into my spare parts nemesis.
