Protecting Painted Inner Wings

Post by KyleMorrisEvans92 »

Hello! I have just got my Morris back from the restorer and what a fantastic job he has done with her. She had 4 new inner wings and they were painted in the same green as the rest of the car when the respray was done. I like to see the inner wings matching the colour of the rest of the car, however; I am slightly confused about the methods of rust protection of these newly painted areas. Sorry for the long story, but what would you folks suggest is best for protecting newly painted inner wings without spoiling the aesthetic appearance of the paint job?

I do hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance

Thanks, yes it is a daily driver. Is the clear waxoil applied by brush?

New 'inner wings' - ??? Or do you just mean 'wings'? If you want it visible then yes regular Waxoyl spray - heat the can in v hot water before spraying. Otherwise stonechip or similar - but it will be black. But 'wings' are the least of the worries....worry much more about the sills and the chassis legs front and rear. And the main suspension crossmember!

Perhaps it's already been stone chipped and the top coat applied over it. If so, just keep it clean.

I would go with your idea of 'chassis black'.....and waxoyl in the cavities......
