Hi Chaps,
can anyone tell me how difficult it is to remove the drivers side door handle on a 4 door? How much needs to be undone/removed before the handle can be withdrawn from the door?
Also, how difficult is it to replace the return spring?
Regards
John

Re: 4 Door Door Handle Removal
Dont think I have done a return spring, might be easier to first source a replacement handle assembly first if you are working on the car and driving it too , having an unlocked no handled door on the road might be asking for trouble.
It is discussed in the BMC Workshop manual.
Not too difficult , Might need to remove the inner door panel first and loosen off the remote unlocking mechanism. Remove the external chromed trim ( single screw ) , use correct type of cross-head screw driver bits , remove the three retaining screws ( if a bit tight , try tighening a little first to break any stiction ). Handle should then , with a fiddle , pull out.
The book says replacement is reverse of removal , it can be more tricky but eventually slots into place.
