Spare distributor
Following BMC advice in various posts about what spares to carry I now come to the subject of a spare dizzy type 25D4 for my car but I am confused , they seem to be available new on some web adverts for about £40 ish which includes everything including the vacuum unit and in some cases a free red rotor arm .My question is are these ok /how do they do it for the price . Any advice would be welcome

Re: Spare distributor
The 'new' ones are fine -probably made in India - but many are using them without problems. Just as long as the 'spare' is KNOWN to be good, and is complete with rotor/cap /HT leads etc. So if you buy a spare - new or otherwise - put it on your car, and wrap up the one you remove and carry it as the spare. Same applies to fuel pump, and carb, and alternator........

Re: Spare distributor
Now hang on a minute BMC I sorted out a spare coil hopefully I have sorted a spare dizzy now you are talking about a carb and alternator if I have to get any more bits in the boot I will have to get rid of the period dated picnic box the wifes umbrella her folding chair (I will keep mine) and the picnic blanket .
Re: Spare distributor
All these little parts will easily fit under the wood - alongside the spare wheel. If really stuck - move the wheel to under the bonnet thus releasing LOTS of space for spares. Complete spare head is a good idea too........
