soon to be owner

Post by sawnee »

Hi guys and girls, I am in the process of buying a '62 2 door in almond green,
I have not seen the car yet but its coming from a good friend and we will be going to give it a good looking over next week.
The car is going to be a "family" project for me and my son with the intention of getting him away from the xbox and under a moggie with a spanner in his hand. He is 13
The car when its finished will be his first car (if he gets involved enough in bringing it back to life)
First impressions are looking good, he is very excited and has been looking over my shoulder as we wandered around this forum so fingers crossed and the car is bought we will be getting some "guy" time, he will learn a lot of new skills and the feeling of pride when a battered neglected shell of a car takes on new life and he will know at the end of it all that his hard work (with a bit of help from dad) has achieved this :D
I will try to get a photo diary going when we start.
I know my way around a car but have never owned a Morris so will be looking for a bit of guidance every now and then, I apologise in advance for any stupid questions

Welcome, love the sound of your car, well I would, it's the same as mine! Good that you are getting your lad interested as well.

my first car was an Austin a30 that my dad and I spent 2 years restoring, that was many years ago. Its a great way to spend time together. Enjoy

There seems to be a common thread as I was 15 when I started messing with moggies, at the grand old age of 42 I'm still messing around with moggies with my 8 year old soon. It seems once you start with moggies you continue.

Thanks for the warm welcome, we are going to give it a good looking at tomorrow and all being well should have the mighty beast sitting in my driveway on Tuesday. Photos will be posted up asap. Whats the easiest way to post them on here?

welcome! sounds like a good father son project :)

me & my dad always had a car to be tinkering with as I grew up, really good memories. I'm sure your lad will love every second of it!
