Door catch keeps loosening.

Post by C.J. »

N/S door catch on the 'B' post keeps backing off, resulting in the door only being half closed.
Tighten it as much as possible, but it only lasts a couple of slams.

How can I adjust this AND loctite it at the same time, or is their a better fix?

Make a gasket out of thin rubber sheeting - something like an old car mat?

you might find that it is the door catch that is worn ie the bit that engages the catch on the B post, had same problem with my drivers side.If you look at the edge of the catch is it obviously rounded, therefore not holding. Mine was, so I carefully remade the edge with a file. No more slipping off the first lip onto the safety. Worked for me.Ten years on still ok.

Fit a new striker plate, you cannot expect everything to last forever.

If the striker plate keeps moving, make a gasket out of sandpaper.

Indeed, and that'll be the next move if this mod doesn't work.

Doesn't actually look that worn tbh.

Sadly, 3 days on, and it's failed and started not closing fully yet again.

Now is this going to have to be a catch (door) or latch (b post) replacement I wonder....or both?
