Powerspark electronic ignition fitted to the old girl

Post by alexandermclaren »

gee whiz fitted Powerspark 45D electronic distributor from http://www.simonbbc.com/
today on my traveller after many months of problems (mainly due to my own inability)with the old points and condensers and a very worn out distributor
set up the static timing and whoosh she fired up almost first time
i have never heard the wee engine running so sweetly she almost purrs
well worth the small outlay[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Carry the old complete dizzy as a spare - just in case. I much prefer to see the coil mounted vertically, and off the engine (away from the vibrations and heat).

do you know Roy that had crossed my mind a wee while back when i noticed that if i was running the engine it seemed that if I touched it i could feel it vibrating more than any other part perhaps as it was perched atop and I also noticed one of the connections was working its way loose and as you said the heat at this point wont be helping it if fact would reduce its working life perhaps
yes next on my to do list is get it fixed to the side of the inner wheel arch
cheers for that Roy
