Glove box stay

Saw a 1960 convertible today at Crich ,it had a glove box stay on the passenger side .I it original ,(my old 62 convertible didn't have one) and any ideas for fitting similar to '70 two door saloon?

Yup it's original. There is a bracket on the inside face of the glove box aperture which the stay fits to. Not sure how this would work on a different profile glove box lid though

The 70 car has a different glove box lid kept closed by a feeble magnet which gives way so that the lid drops down and whacks the passenger on the knees every time the car hits a speed bump. It is the same lid as fitted to the Series MM but in those days the cars were built to quality and the lid had a proper push button release catch. One day I am going to fit a push button catch lid to my 68 Traveller

That you for the info,luckily my magnet is strong (not the babe bit ) but I do wish it stopped at 90 degrees the lid I mean

I always assumed it was a fitting seen on deluxe models from 56-62 ish? My '61 saloon had one, the passenger glovebox has chrome trim and a wooden insert, that the stay screws into, and the insert is covered in some material. My 58 saloon has no such arrangement, nor my 60 saloon come to think of it!
