A-series spares seem to be building a good reputation for their complete dizzy - they have stopped doing the conversion kit.

I had a couple of Lumenition kits on the Travellers. One has been going for years with no trouble, one packed up shortly after the warranty expired. In general, electronic "should" be more reliable than the modern points etc (give me NOS any day) but does seem more sensitive to having the correct coil and generally good electrics.

Just use your nos points and condenser - will be good for at least another 10 years or so! If you must though, the 45D is the later/improved design dizzy...

Agreed. 45D I'm told has a better curve - better suited to modern petrol or something. My traveller certainly runs very well indeed with it :D

So - you really think Lucas did all the development work on the 45D - just for fun? It is the better dizzy........

I did read it properly - I am suggesting you should not believe him......the 45D IS the later/better design. Strictly of course - he is correct - there will be no improvement in performance with either of these dizzies - points ignition performance is not a limiting factor in a standard Minor engine........

Lots of others in recent threads seem happy with the 45D too -wise choice.

tried the 45D from accuspark and never got the thing running. car wouldn't even fire.

purchased the module from same supplier and the car burst into life and I've had no problem since.

dizzy must have been a bad one
