Set it on volts dc, with a range of 10 - 20 volts.

Make sure it is ONLY live when the Ignition is on - otherwise it drains the battery........ So - connect to the GREEN wires at the fuse, and not the LILAC wires...

Re: How to set a voltmeter to my MM 1000 car
Is that with the ignition switched on only or with the engine running at 2000/2500rpm? Next check is what is the voltage with the headlights switched on and engine running at 2000/2500rpm?it was midle of red and green 11v - 12v

If you increase the revs what happens to the voltmeter reading, does it increase? It should go to at least 13v if it is charging correctly.

Re: How to set a voltmeter to my MM 1000 car
What is the maximum voltage when you increase the engine speed? If you turn on the headlights, what is the maximum voltage when you increase the engine speed?
The volt meter must be connected to an ignition controlled fuse (A4, green wire), otherwise it will be on all the time and very very slowly will discharge the battery.

Not so slowly -I made that mistake many moons ago (when just a teenage novice) and the battery was flattened overnight.
