When was my car built?
Is paying £60 for a Heritage certificate the only way to find out exactly when my car was manufactured?
That's strange R2, the damage doesn't look so bad from here!
Re: When was my car built?
No, you can go to the Gaydon Heritage centre and look it up in the ledgers yourself. The date of first registration is not usually that far away from the build date; just depends on how accurate you want to be. With the production trace, you get the exact days on which the car was built - note that it could be over three days, none of this modern 59 minutes to build a mini!

Also, you will find out where the vehicle was dispatched to and which dealer sold the car. Other useful numbers such as gearbox and back axle numbers are sometimes recorded and the original colour too. Worth a day out anyway to go to Gaydon to have a look around

That's useful to know. My car has a Stewart Arden plaque on the bulkhead, but I know the gearbox is not original as I can see ribbed casing and my engine is a 948.brucek wrote:Also, you will find out where the vehicle was dispatched to and which dealer sold the car. Suggest you give them a ring first to make sure they're not "housekeeping". Sometimes they do a tidy up and on these days the logs are not available - also if you know the rough /month/year they can get the them out for you to save time.

Quote the chassis number STAMPED into the bodyshell.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
