Convertible hood fitment questions

Post by tysonn »

Could a kind ragtop owner please let me know how far down the rear of the soft top extends over the trunk of the car?Finally decided to get the car ready for the summer.Does it overlap the boot hinge a bit?Also is yours fitted at the rear with poppers so it can be removed if necessary(what would make it necessary I've no idea)or permanently with cup washers.I know the bottom of the rear window fixes with lift the dot fasteners.Any guidance(or even better pics) appreciated.

Tysonn,
Here's a photo. The hood does overlap the hinges at least on mine and in the second photo you can see the popper you are referring to. Hope this helps.

I added a rubber strip to stop the hood frame scratching the rear window frame when you are opening and closing the hood.[frame]Image[/frame]

There's a older model on ebay at the moment with photos showing the hood fixings;

That's strange R2, the damage doesn't look so bad from here!

Thanks for the link Roger.I think its been done wrongly though with the exposed poppers at the rear.

I think it all depends on who fitted the hood and how good a copy it is, as although mine is very much similer to Declan,s ,it doesn't quite cover the rear hinges but i don't think it really matters , unless your going for a concours model !

Well I think the poppers on the surface make it look just like the kit cars of the seventies.Afterthoughtish!

Declan could I trouble you again for a pic of the front of the soft top with the roof fixed?I have fitting instructions that show the ends of the canvas are cut in a "V" shape and folded inwards to be hidden later by the hidem banding but a picture of the finished item would be great!
Thanks

Mick,
While you are at it, it might be wise to add these velcro strips on the inside. It stops the hood flapping against the frame.
