Hello Everyone

Post by thecount »

Hi there everyone

Finally after having been here for a few years now I have got it together enough to say hi and put of few pictures of my car up. The main delay is that I have only just rediscovered the pictures taken when I first got the car and started to restore it. My 1955 Series II is called The Count specifically because every time I work on it it manages to draw blood from skinned knuckles or something such.

I got the count in 1989 as a 21st present from my parents and it has had a varied life ever since of being a daily driver to being a garage ornament, to keeping my fathers 1959 Humber Hawk company in a hay shed on the farm. It was restored way back when I first got it and it has been resprayed once since then. The Count is currently sitting nice and warm in my parents garage (a short 27 hour drive away from me), quite a change from the farm shed, though next year I will bring it down to Melbourne and then we have some kilometers to drive together, plans are here if your interested to know http://countaroundaus.blogspot.com.au/

There is some work to do still to get it back to road worthy, though it shouldn't take too long. The chassis rails could probably do with replacing but there is at least no rust so that is a good thing :D

Thanks all[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Oh and here is a couple of pics that Show the difference between the eye matched colour of the paint from the original restoration to the current respray colour chat matched version of The Counts original Valley Green paint. Somewhat of a difference!

This was the colour from the original batch of eye matched paint, amazing it lasted from 1989 to 2007 before being used.[frame]Image[/frame]

As there was not enough paint to get a good many layers on I decided to go and get more and this paint place had access to original colour charts and mixed me up an "original" batch. Easy to see the difference :o[frame]Image[/frame]

So this is how The Count looks at the moment, ok yeah needs a buffing, but ok considering I have never sprayed before, maybe :D[frame]Image[/frame]

Welcome!

Don't think I could cope with the idea of my mog being 27 hours away :P

I presume the count has red bits on the blue paint? And a body in the boot

Thanks all

Yeah I like to see before and after as well, make a fella feel like he has achieved something along the way. I would be happier if I could spay paint better though that would require pratice and well at this time it will do, once I sand and buff it t may look decent enough. The Humber has moved on to a new home, but it as a great beast to drive, shame I liked that car too.

Cheers
Gav

Hi again everyone

Just an update, I have managed to make up for some lost time as the Count is now in Melbourne and we have spent some quality time together, spent two months driving around Australia and over all went brilliantly, with one flat tyre and a clutch plate needing replacing 3/4 the way around. Mind the clutch wasn't totally the cars fault, the mechanic in Melbourne had over filled the gearbox and the oil was running down the input shaft and coating the old clutch.

Over all details are:

Total distance: 22.376 Kilometres
Total Litres of Fuel: 1,594
Average cost /Litre: $1.75 AUD
Cost per Kilometre: $0.12 AUD
Litres / 100 Kilometres: 7.12
Kilometres / Litre: 14.04
Miles / Gallon (Imp): 39.67
Miles / Gallon (US): 33.04

Over all fairly happy with that and what a great trip too![frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
