went for a drive today every thing was fine...
after about 15 miles... at every junction, roundabout etc the car stopped?????
would'nt start without a bit of throttle???
whilst running it was great... every time i stopped so did
the engine
your thoughts please
I would not expect the engine to start without a bit of throttle.
If you know it is going to stall then dip the clutch and give it a bit of accelerator and if it does stall when you stop then dip the clutch and start it on the key.
Or you could go handbrake, neutral, start engine, in gear, handbrake off, mirror, signal, manoeuvre etc, by which time the lights have turned from red to green and back to red!
Foot on clutch causes extra drag - especially if the clutch is not correctly adjusted and is being pressed too far! So when stopping - slip the car in neutral and glide to a halt - does it cut out then?
first... i have been using the car a lot with no problems...
when i had to pull up getting out of the city no problems...
only after i had been driving about 10 miles did it start cutting out..
changing down to pull up dip clutch, brake to stop she cut out
It could just be the warmer weather, colder air is denser (sp) so it has more oxygen. If the idle was set close to the limit when it was cold it could just need a tweak
i think i have sorted out the problem....
the 2 screws that hold the top pot of the carb on were very loose
screwed them up and all seems well.
could i put a drop of thread lock on these so
it does'nt happen again?
