Morris Minor with no Vin plate or Chasis Number
I bought the Morris a few months ago and it has lots of work done on it by previous owner and there was no Vin plate and I can not find a chassis number any where but the licence plates are on it. How do I find out the Vin number etc so I can register the vehicle ? thank you

Chassis Number[frame]

Chassis Plate
Are both of these missing?
Do you have the registration documents? If so just send off the correct section of the form.

That number shown surrounded in white should be TYPED into the bodyshell - have a good look for it. If buffed off - be suspicious! But if the reg number is known - firstly look it up on DVLA website in case it is already in use on another vehicle
- but if ok - just apply for a V5C from DVLA.

Be aware that some later Minors had the chassis numbers stamped on the driver's floor..

Hi and welcome. If you post some pictures of the car we should be able to age it within a couple of years via the various changes that were made to them.
Details of how to do this here. N.B. The photos need to be no larger than 640 x 480

1965/66, but I have no evidence to back this up unfortunately.bmcecosse wrote:Do you happen to know from when?

Yes, 1965.
Although I think Mike Perry's traveller has its chassis number
stamped into the bulkhead as per earlier examples.
Could you confirm this Mike?

Re: Morris Minor with no Vin plate or Chasis Number
My Trav is 1965 and I've not been able to find a number on the bulkhead - or any trace of it there. Where on the floor? Although of course it may not have the original floors........

Looks to be under the carpet by the master cylinder. I have no idea what criteria they used to put chassis numbers where, but if you can't see yours then it's a fair bet it's there
(assuming original floors of course).

Re: Morris Minor with no Vin plate or Chasis Number
Hi,
Do the positions of the various plates and stamped numbers shown in the MMO thread apply to pickups ?
Cheers

Sorry I have no idea. Just don't assume because you can't find the chassis number on the bulkhead there's something dodgy going on!

Applies to all vehicles built at Cowley or B'ham - I think that's the case(?),pauly45 wrote:Hi,

Main purpose of body numbers.
UK LCVs after 216950 had to adhere to newly introduced plating
laws for commercial vehicles, hence the larger chassis plates on the
nearside cab door liners (I think?)

Re: Morris Minor with no Vin plate or Chasis Number
Took this today on a scrap 69 4 door I have at the moment. It's not a great picture, but gives an idea of where it might be found. Also, my Adderley Park built Traveller had its number stamped in the middle of the floor by the handbrake on the driver's side. No photo available as it was cut out when the floor was replaced.[frame]
