Re: So loud at 65!
Sounds typical to me, mine is reasonably quiet but still much noisier than a modern car.

Re: So loud at 65!
Try fitting sound deadening to the bulkhead. Fiddly to fit but it does cut down the noise. Available from morris suppliers.

Re: So loud at 65!
Ive used the combined carpet/sound deadening (including the boot ) from a scrap Rover 75 which cost £10 ( its a proper old fashioned scrappy were you take the bits off yourself) and Ive started to fit this to my sons car.
As I said, in a Rover 75 (at least on this model) the carpet is combined with the sound deadening felt/rubber and as a Rover 75 is a lot bigger than a moggy you can cut it about. The car I took it from already had the seats out and I spent time removing the whole piece but you could cut the flat sections that you need. The whole section is very heavy !
The Rover 75 carpet is molded so you basically need the use the flat section to fit your Minor and remove any extra felt/rubber on the back to get it to fit.
As other my son was in hurry to get out in his Moggy so Ive only fitted it to the drivers side so far - once its fitted you should be able to re fit the carpet over the top - James has a modern 4 speaker stereo in his car which is powerful enough to drown out any road/ engine noise in a moggy anyway .........!! (don't think he's listening to radio 4 either !)
this was a lot cheaper than the pre cut under felt sets and no harder to fit in my opinion
i'll post some pics when I can

Re: So loud at 65!
At least if it makes noise it works! Our is fine until above 70, where the entire car starts vibrating. Tops out at 75.
Re: So loud at 65!
Perfectly normal for a standard car - wireless is basically useless in a Minor - unless parked up in a lay-by with a mug of tea.

Re: So loud at 65!
I've found this is very common - especially if the 1098 is 'well worn', and the ability to hold a conversation in my head becomes impossible with all the racket at 75 to 80mph!
The 948 is much smoother, but takes a lot longer to get to 65... and forget 80.
A well maintained 1098 engine with a 3.9 diff tends to be a lot less 'angry' at 65mph and would be my preference for longer journeys, but a bit of a compromise if you live in a very hilly area.

Re: So loud at 65!
haha yourre lucky you can do 65! I can only get 50 mph out of my little 803. And yes, its normal that you cant hear anything, hence why mine if kitted out with sound deadening material. Works wonders, especially under the carpets.
