Hi Kentish Traveller!
I'm in Folkestone and acquired my first Traveller a few weeks ago after searching for 8 months. I was being very fussy about colour etc which is why it took me so long I think, but I ended up buying exactly what I said I wouldn't - a poor old girl that needed a lot of work!
She's progressing nicely and is due for her respray next week so I hope to have some pics up soon.
I suppose all I would say from my experience is that I was in an almost identical situation to you budget-wise, and so far it looks like it will work out cheaper or about the same for me to buy Hetty and fix her up that it would have been to buy her all done. The difference is I really feel like I know her inside out because I've seen her stripped to pieces, and I am really enjoying doing some of the work myself (something I was adamant I wouldn't do!).
I have had so much support and advice from the forum, and some of the members are incredibly generous. I'm so glad I joined while I was searching and not after I had purchased!
Good luck with your search, I can't wait to see what you buy
Emma
