Having lost money on 2 sets of deffective new brake shoes this month and not really being in a position to stump up for another more expensive set at ther moment - I've decided to try and reserect the original linings. They are only about 40 per cent worn and the only reason I replaced tghem was because they had got soaked by leaking wheel cylinder (fairly recent pattern one). I've got them soaking in white spirit at the moment, so fingers crosssed - they should get us by for a bit. At least I know that these one fit and they don't squeal or judder.
That's strange R2, the damage doesn't look so bad from here!

Try setting them on fire with a blow torch.....

Regarding the adjustment problem - I've got around this by welding up part of the adjuster location feature (cut-out) in the shoe.

Needless to say, don't start welding parts if you want to get a refund. Each supplier has different expectations for refunds - I've fallen foul of that many times and like many I now try to fix faulty parts if at all possible.

That's very interesting! My first set of linings (from supplier 1) were a very tight fit and I had to widen the adjuster slot with an angle grinder as the cam was not sitting fully into the slot in the shoe. The second set (from supplier 2) must be the other way round and the slot is to deep. So it's out with the mig! Sure I've never had such problems before.
