Sump C shaped front/rear seals
As I have a small oil leak coming from the front location where the sump meets the block /crankshaft housing as I presume the cork seal being rather tired and gone hard, I ordered from Moss a pair of rubber type replacements labelled for the 1275 engine ,these have just arrived running around the inner and outer faces of the C shape items are 2 parallel ribs the ribs are also on the end faces. The revised seals fit perfectly to the front / rear locations in the spare sump that I have and seem to stick proud of the sump by approx 3/32" which to me seems about OK , both ends of the seals for the last 1/4 " are soft so I assume this is to be able to seal the ends when bolted up.As they fit without any modification and I seem to remember reading that the rubber seals were better than cork type is it just a case of bolting all together to the engine or am I missing something
Re: Sump C shaped front/rear seals
Sorry forgot to state that it is a 948 cc engine , the purchase of these parts only came about after a conversation with Moss about any alternative to the cork type seal
Re: Sump C shaped front/rear seals
Well - 1275 seals will be far too big then........ I believe they can be cut down - but I have never had any problem with correctly fitted cork seals - how can they fail???
