Bung a rubber bung in them and throw the jack under the work bench. Replace it with a decent scissor jack and a trolley jack for home use. [frame][/frame]
I don't think they look naff ,sounds to me like a lot of work removing them for a very little return,as above shove a bung in after cleaning out and waxoiling them,you could even colour code the bung
