Very nice, all you need now is a GPO registration number. 1GPO is for sale... only £30K
Takes me back to when I joined GPO or Post Office Telephones many moons ago.

Hi,
Very nice GPO van, I do like to see these as I'm ex BT myself. As was my late father who joined (the GPO) after being demobbed, after his wartime army service in the far east. So he may well have driven vehicles like this during his time as a field engineer, before he was promoted to Senior Tech and based in the office in Reading.
I actually once found myself signing in somewhere he'd once worked, finding his signature in the old signing in book, this was after he'd died, so was quite poignant.
Best wishes,
Mike.

1952 Morris Minor MM highlight with sidevalve engine still fitted, wants work, so joins the queue for now......

Have to do something with the windcreen insert, not used on
803 vans. Just a single piece moulding.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Surely a D reg van wouldn't be an 803? Even GPO?

The van is meant to represent a '63 Engineers 5cwt Utility.

Therefore an 803cc, one of 1621 vehicles the body would have
come from.

Shame the body isn't numbered, then I could put a regn to it!

I'm constantly puzzled.

If POMMReg didn't provide 'constructive criticism' to restorers, it wouldn't be
doing its job.

I feel sorry for enthusiasts who spend thousands on their vehicles, only to be
given duff info by 'experts' who should know better!

Like to know who 'advised' in the restoration of JLW 576D!!

XXD 335 last listed with Lee Coleman.

XXD 472 now XFF 106 owned by a strange man in Manchester ,
believed to be converted to a diesel 4x4 pick up.

UXH 530 fitted with trafficators so built at much the same
time as UXH 143.

What became of UXH 719?

Luvly job. Semaphores fitted tight to the B post ! One wonders when the bracket, to push them further out, so traffic behind got a better view of the driver's intention, was fitted ?

SLM 176 had yale locks, but I assume that was a later fitting from a GPO rebuild at some stage. It had silver painted chassis and a reinforced floor round the drivers seat mounts (heavy postie?) presumably all done in a GPO workshop.
