DVLA and pre 60s tax application
Am I missing something regarding the new rules regarding tax discs and pre 60s cars , as today I received my tax reminder for my 1953 series 2 so I phoned the number for the DVLA and when requested tapped in the unique number from my reminder waited a few seconds to then be told sorry my car does not have a current MOT ?. Is this a case of the DVLA system not being updated as I have checked my newly issued log book and that seems to be correct.

If you do a Google search you'll see that there have been some problems when renewing a tax disc on-line if your vehicle is now MOT exempt but still has a current MOT running at the time of the tax disc renewal. Judging by one of your previous messages your MOT is due to run out on the 16th March so try applying again on line for the tax disc after this date.
If you still have the same problem just renew it at the Post Office and complete form V112:

I renewed my tax online in Feb (1958 Saloon - MOT exempt) and there was no problems there.

Thanks for the advice it seems the post office will be my next choice ,but it is a shame that they cannot get things right by now after all they introduced it in November last year , reading a post on the Austin 7 Forum it seems the same, some people have been successful some have not , Goood old DVLA
