Re: Series II with curved screens??????
I think that photo settles the original question. The roof peak or bump doesn't really stand out in a full frontal view depending on lighting The car on ebay looks to have slightly curved chrome trims that aren't sat down flush in the rubbers that would give the hint of a curved screen. Really the seller should have inc some other views say a front 3/4 and a side view then all this doubt wouldn't have occured and possibly he may get more for the car too!
As for the rest, its just a typical Series 2 with various later bits and upgrades from over its life. Up to the owner wether they keep as is or make it more original.

Re: Series II with curved screens??????
As has been pointed out there have been a LOT of changes to this car departing from original spec.
The change to the more familiar Minor body was made for the 1957 model year.
The logbook would state '800cc' as the engine size, not 803.

The worst part about the car I can see is that the boot handle is on upside down. Don't people know?

Its amazing how many upsidedown boot handles there are out there. Even on fully restored cars where folk should really know...

Re: Series II with curved screens??????
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your replies to my original post, they've made interesting reading.
I'm still very confused about this car, one of the interior photos clearly shows that the screen is curved and to the best of my knowledge all Series II Minors had flat screens, or did they???
I have a genuine, original 1956 Series II (which I'm looking to sell if you're interested) which incorporates quite a few of the features of the soon to be introduced Minor 1000, including the dished steering wheel, indicator stalk with green bubble end and Minor 1000 flat back seats, so Morris were obviously starting to fit Minor 1000 parts to Series II cars as they became available.
However mine still has it's flat windscreens, flat rigid wiper blades, working trafficators, 803cc engine and long gearstick.
Is this car on Ebay a unique genuine one-off Series II Minor built on a totally unique body shell which incorporated the soon to be introduced curved windscreen aperture to which they fitted a split curved screen, but still retained the small rear window or is it a ringer???????
We'll probably never know!!

Re: Series II with curved screens??????
The green stalk came in 1959, my 1958 has the stalk with the horn on the stalk. Your switch has probably been retrofitted.

Re: Series II with curved screens??????
Yes the first 1000s had the green indicator lamp at the steering wheel end of the stalk and a horn push on the stalk so almost certainly a retrofit.
As for the ebay car, it looks pretty standard around the screen to me, especially from the inside. #The screen pillars are the usual thick Series 2 ones so its definately not a 1000 screen. Someones just paid £1750 to find out anyway - maybe we'll see it at the National.

Re: Series II with curved screens??????
I can't believe how much interest this has generated over nothing
- it's quite obviously a Series II with a standard bodyshell (as they were never fitted with one-piece windscreens), which has had a few later 1098 bits fitted to it, as many have. Why on earth would it be anything else?! A few trips to Specsavers are required, I think

Re: Series II with curved screens??????
Everyone seems to think this is just a regular Series II Minor that has been updated in various places, but when I first saw it on ebay I asked the seller if the screens were flat or curved because from both the exterior and interior the glass in the two half screens appears to be curved and to the best of my knowledge all split screen Minors are fitted with flat glass screens.
His reply to my email was: "The windsreen is curved at the edges and flat where it meets in the middle".
Any comments??????????

Re: Series II with curved screens??????
Sounds about right - there are "curves" at the A post side, plus top and bottom to fit window aperature. The glass however is flat in profile - neither concave or convex.
Hopefully this thread could now be drawn to a close

Re: Series II with curved screens??????
Of course the screen is curved at the edges - how else would it fit? The glass itself is flat as a pancake and I too hope this matter can now be drawn to a close.
