Hello from a newbie

Post by Woody49 »

Hi, just to introduce myself, I am woody49, which is unfortunately not my age. You would think that a grown man with a series 2a and a type 25 to take care of would have enough on his plate but unfortunately the misses doesn't like them as daily drivers. In deed wrestling with the landie is a perverse pleasure. So I went and bought a traveller with both eyes completely closed.
I live in Largs on the west coast of scotland and have noticed a few other moggies around here.

Anyway back to the point, I am sure I will be asking questions soon, and maybe even passing on a few pearls of wisdom.
I am glad to see that under the bonnet there are a lot of similarities to minis that I have owned in the past, although the engine is the wrong way around.

I have just dug out my router and other woodworking tools but I fear that they will get little use. I would describe Molly as a rolling project , the front end looks reasonable, but that's where it stops so some urgent purchases are required.

The forum looks great and I am in love with my new girl. So I hope to get loads of help if needed.

Cheers.

Welcome Woody, Good to hear that another Morris will be on the road soon in Ayrshire. I live in Inverkip and there are a few Morris owners around these parts that I know of and am friends with. The Ayrshire Branch meet at Prestwich and have many rallies scheduled this year. Would be good to see the Traveller. Best Wishes Ewen

Hi Woody49.
If you are anything like myself then the " '49 " bit refers to the year of birth!!
I, too, am currently restoring a Traveller ( 1960) and trying to outline the project on this site! Another episode is due soon, so prepare for a cure from that insomnia, sufferers!
I'm a wee bit further North than yourself, and on the opposite side of the country, close to where that Trump bloke with the awful haircut has desecrated some wonderful coastline for the sake of a golf course!
Hope you enjoy your Traveller. Wonderful cars. Love 'em!
There's a lot to be found on this wonderful site, and the folk are so friendly and helpful!
All the best

Hi and welcome Woody,
The minor's motor is the right way around, you will I am sure agree when you need to do some work on it. We do like lots of pictures so post a few. Great to see your rugby team on form again, great support and singing from the fans. All we need now is a comment from slinky dog or Mr potato head.

Hi Woody,

Fellow Scot here from Lochgoilhead.

Like you, I have just joined this forum too. Everybody has been very helpful and obviously they are a great bunch of people.

I pick up my Morris Minor Convertable in March, so hopefuly will be able to meet some people in the flesh this summer.

Looking forward to posting a picture of me and my Morris soon.

All the best,

Ian
