Gearstick Knob

Post by rogersanger »

I have a 1964 Traveller but the engine and transmission are replacements with a 948 engine and a transmission that is smooth cased. The gearstick knob is plain with no markings and it is round. I want to replace it with the 4-speed indentation markings. Any idea which parts vendor would have such a knob that was originally on this gearstick? Part number? I read that the knob on the 948 smooth trans is different than that on the 1098 ribbed trans. Correct? Would any other BMC fit my gearstick? I see many on both ebay US and ebay UK Thanks Roger in USA

Hi Roger. the round gearstick should have raised numbers so I guess yours will just have worn away. The later gearlever knob with the white inlaid type will fit the earlier lever - it has a rubber centre so will attach to pretty much any lever. Most of the usual suppliers over here will stock the later one so just type in Morris Minor parts suppliers into your search engine and take your pick
