Yes!

Does depend on how much extra. but I'd get rid of the excess asap.

Too much oil could end up as froth (causing back pressure when the pistons meve down), blow out of the various orifices (dipstick, breather - into air filter), collect in rocker cover etc etc....

To remove just some of the oil is going to be tricky - It's possibly easier to empty it all out and start again.

If you're talking a few 100 ml, I don't think it will be a problem.

Undo the sump nut, let a bit out then screw it back in again.

Like Colin says, it depends on how much extra there is in though!
