Hello folk,
In the summer I plan to strip the interior and re paint the floor as there is some surface rust coming through. I have just spent about three weeks stripping old underseal off and re doing, and now I would like to paint the inside of the floor. Currently it is painted in a green gloss, similar to the colour of the body. Once this is stripped, what paint does one use to prime and then top coat? I would like to do a proper job so expense isn't really an issue
Thanks
Kyle

Re: what paint for the inside of floor pan
Hi,
Again I'd use a zinc based primer, make sure it's cured thoroughly before you try to paint over it. Top coat would be body colour, available from Bull Motif, Morris Minor Centre Birmingham, ESM, etc.
Best wishes,
Mike.

hi
re the floor pan. once you have throughly removed all the old paint etc. give it a really good degreasing. after that i always give the floor a good coat of etch primer. this will bite into the metal and give you an excellent surface for the primer to bond to. i then give the floor 3 coats of good qaulity 2 pack primer . once this has cured you can then apply the colour. again use a good 2pack for finish and durability.

You may be interested to know that the original floorpan was sprayed with a type of stonechip paint first, and then sprayed with body colour. The stonechip gave it that pebbled texture, rather than straight gloss.

Yep , you need the pebbled finish as on a smooth one , either ones shoes or the carpets slip if not firmly clipped down.
