Both pivots sheered off quaterlight

Post by hanvyj »

Hi,

I had the quaterlight fall out lately. Its now held in with gaffa tape - not ideal for security (but then isn't difficult to get in anyway..)

The pivot-pin at the top that's held in with 2 screws has sheered off, I couldn't find this part anywhere at ESM or Bull Motif - but I might not be typing the right terms in. Does anyone know if These are obtainable?

It also looks like the lower pin has been broken for years, as the break is tarnished - this is probably what caused the stress
on the top pin causing that to break. Would I have to drill this out and get some metal rod or something to repair this?

I'm not sure whether it would be more economical just to get a new quarterlight!

Hi,
Like you I've just trawled through the main suppliers and I don't see anything like that listed, you could try to create something yourself but then again it might be simpler / less hassle to just change the quarter light and be done with it.
Whilst you've got it apart anyway I'd take the opportunity to renew the rubbers at least, as they are cheap and readily available.
The cheapest quarter lights I saw were from ESM and I've attached links for you below, the top one is for a hinge part but I don't know if it is what you are after. You could also phone TOM ROY on Monday and see what they have to say, however I don't know what prices they'd charge.
I can't see any on eBay at present.
Hope this is of some help. Best wishes,
Mike.

I replaced the rubbers last year and would advise a dab of copper slip on the pivot pins.

You do not want to put any lubrication on the pins or they will blow closed when driving
