MMOC Phone App
How could we go about getting an MMOC phone App made? It would be useful for when people are under the car or out and about as the website isn't massively phone friendly. I'd pay a £1 or two for a decent one if it meant getting to posts and updating posts quicker when out and about. (for Android please I might add.)

Re: MMOC Phone App
I suspect the appeal would be limited. The majority of Minor owners (let's be honest here
) are at the age where an iPhone or similar is not a necessity, so for someone to make it all up and for limited appeal..
I personally hate apps and web pages that have a 'mobile version' like eBay - I couldn't switch to classic fast enough
so I'm glad the MMOC hasn't tried to corner that 'niche'.

What`s an App ?

Re: MMOC Phone App
I am on another forum and we touted this idea, and the guy who built the site said the apps are bloomin' hard to make and that site has more active members than this one and he said it would be pointless even then. I can see it being pointless here too.
A stripped down mobile version of this site might be good however
I wish this site however had Tapatalk availability. Tapatalk is a great app, that is good for forum usage

Re: MMOC Phone App
The idea of an app is to make reaching the site easier and quicker, pretty good points.
Those members who use the site must be computer savvy .So a fair % will probably use it.
I tend not to read Minor matters, most months but I'm not suggesting it stops being produced at great cost,"cause some might not read it.
Although the money saved by an e-mag must be considerable, and better used
This is a great site that must be managed by some pretty good computer people ,so an app (short program) should not be past them.
The idea is fast growing on me as a heavy user away from home on my mobile phone and tablet

You'll fail your exams - an App is a bit more than half an applealexandermclaren wrote:i never knew thatbrucek wrote:Half an appleRasputin wrote:What`s an App ?![]()

Re: MMOC Phone App
Five years time, if not before, an app will be available for this, may as well develop one now and be ahead of the game

Re: MMOC Phone App
I know what an app is, but what what would it do that a smart phone can't already do?
Browser for the message board, already there.
PDF reader for the manual, available free.
Phone a friend, Likewise

Re: MMOC Phone App
The point of an 'app' is to reduce and optimise the content of a particular site to make it more phone friendly. No zooming in and out and panning around etc.

Re: MMOC Phone App
A mobile optimised page for the site would do that and not have to be developed for working on many platforms like the app would, as the page will work across all platformsdavidpidge wrote:The point of an 'app' is to reduce and optimise the content of a particular site to make it more phone friendly. Yes, by the look of it. I am not a forum mod anywhere so don't have a definitive answer but it looks like it

Re: MMOC Phone App
I don't either but to my untutored eye this approach looks an easier.

Presumably phpBB detects the mobile browser and serves up the mobile style sheet.

Re: MMOC Phone App
That looks like a good way for most phones, and if the phone can't handle it, it probably isn't good enough to browse the internet properley
