Re: scooby in a minor ?!
I'd think the number of computers and sensors would be more of an issue than the size of the lump.
That and sorting the brakes etc to handle that much grunt.

Just stick with the A series. You won't find a much better engine than that!
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Re: scooby in a minor ?!
There was a Minor on Ebay a while ago that the owner had dropped onto a Legacy chassis so I guess that would be fairly similar to the Impreza.

Re: scooby in a minor ?!
The engine in question was an air cooled flat four.
This engine was also coupled to a 3 speed column change gearbox.
The benefit was to provide a front bench seat.
However it suffered badly from vibration, was a new design that post war Britain could hardly afford to develop and it was essential to the government of the time, to get exports up to bring much needed currency back to these shores.
Exports became the order of the day, so further to changes in taxation on larger bore engines at home, the 918cc in line engine already in production was adopted.
Only a further 5 flat 4 prototypes were produced and later abandoned.
I rather like the in line variant, not least because a flat 4 smacks of VW designs,I imagine anything on those lines so close to the cessation of hostilities, would be viewed with disdain by the British public and Her Majestys dominions.
