803 Engine
I have an 1954 minor i think it has the 803 engine, i have been offered a 948 my question is would this engine fit and would it pick up with the existing gearbox
Re: 803 Engine
Thanks for letting me know, the 803 starts off the button but i have a feeling the water pump is on its way out, i took out the thermostat to see if the circulation was any better but even with the heater valve open the water only trickles out of it when i remove the pipe when the engine is running and the heaters just blow cold air, do you have any idea what the problem could be
Re: 803 Engine
You must have a stat in to get any circulation - the 803 pump is not common and therefor expensive. But hardly a reason to swap the whole engine - although could be a solution for winter time.......

Re: 803 Engine
i have just bought a stat off ebay, ill give the engine a flush before fitting it worth a try

Re: 803 Engine
The 803 is undoubtedly the worst ever engine of the whole Minor range, but in spite of that it is oddly likeable. As Roy says please don't scrap it - there are still a few fans out there.

Re: 803 Engine
Give the heater a good flush - and check the valve is opening up fully. Hope you bought an 88 degree stat !

Re: 803 Engine
Now thats a good point 88 degree ? i just checked but theres nothing in the listing saying 88 degree, heres the item number 160391791908
Re: 803 Engine
