Looks good, treat it to some varnish or something to protect the wood though.

Appears to have had a Gold Seal engine. Varnishing is not the done thing nowadays - there are much better methods for wood preservation such as Danish oil and waxing but you can get round to that in the Spring.

If you are using the car in winter blast the wheelarches and underside regularly to keep the salt off.

PS I should add that 1st and reverse gears are often noisy. This does not merit a new g/box! Worry about that when it starts jumping out of gear!

JJ

Are the main ingredients of 'Danish oil' composed of Lager & Bacon?
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Gold seal just means it was an official factory reconditioned unit - although not necessarily done in 'the factory'. It will have engine number 8xxxxxxxxxx . You should have a bar retaining the battery!!

No Chris that's the stuff I like to use to lube the old arteries. Don't use it on your traveller as I believe it to be fairly corrosive!

As bmeccose has said don't waste your money on headlight peaks. Due to changes in M o T regs, headlamp peaks will now be considered as sharp protrduding objects, and or an item fitted to the headlight lickly to cause deflection of the beam.
