I've been with them for some time, have had no issues. Free calls anytime + broadband + line rental approx £25 mth certain numbers and to mobiles extra. They offer other deals.

We joined them as Tiscali and they were taken over by Talktalk. There was only one problem I think when they tried charging us extra for something or other... long sorted out.

My only gripe is that the router keeps resetting itself and the internet goes off.

Yes, forgot the tiscali era, in fact my email still uses that! So far so good, as they say.

Been with them for years and years, £25 per month for 24x7 free landline use (excluding international) and internet unlimited download. They are cheap and cheerful, the internet can get slow at peak times. The only gripe I have is if you have a problem, it is yours to prove it's their systems. They aren't the most helpful when the net or the phone line goes down as the first response is always "it's all working this end, we have no reports of any other issues in your postcode" etc.

In the grander scheme of things, this has only happened twice in about 6 years, so I am fairly happy with the cheap service.

Oh yes another... my line has crackled from day one, though they continue to deny it's them.

Thanks for the replies.... I tried to take the 'deal' earlier tonight and it wouldn't go through - it was due to end today - I assumed I had till midnight - I guess not. So - I'll have to re- assess all the options and then decide. Roy

I was with them for quite a while, the actual product was fine but support was a nightmare of overseas call centres sticking to prepared scripts.
If you could get through that ordeal second line support were very good and knew their stuff.

Mine, started doing that. Check how old the router is, they do break down after a while.

I bought a belkin wireless router thingy, this sets itself up. I haven't had the same issue repeat itself since I bought the new router.

Thanks for the tip Dean, it is a Thomson router they sent out originally and must be getting on for 5 years old or more.

Unfortunately that is what counts as product life today.

My experience with Tiscali / TalkTalk is simple: Don't touch them with a barge pole. Too many issues to list, but my professional opinion is that there are plenty of better providers out there.

It's some years ago now but I had a lot of problems with Talk Talk blaming BT for problems and BT blaming Talk Talk with us stuck in the middle with no Internet. From that experience I've stuck with one end-to-end provider just because they (have to) take more responsibility.

As part of my work I manage a few tenanted properties and, where possible we install Virgin for broadband (no phone) as it's fibre, faster and one provider end to end. It's been competely reliable over all of the properties with only the occasional end box playing up and being replaced. Where there isn't a fibre network we use BT to have one provider end to end.

I edit a MMOC branch newsletter and send out about 30 or so copies by email (which saves hugely on printing and postage costs) but do run into problems with talk talk users as there seems to be a low limit on email sizes and I quite often get messages returned as undeliverable due to file size, and allthe other recipients have no problems. I then have to split it into two files and resend to the talk talk people....
May be worth considering if you often receive large files.
cheers
